About the Park
Valley Forge National Historical Park was the winter refuge of George Washington and the Continental Army from 1777 to 1778. The park protects 3,500 acres of meadows, woodlands, historic landscapes, and monuments. Its sites commemorate the resolve of the Revolutionary War generation. The park also honors people’s ability to overcome adversity and find renewal through transformation.
