Beech Park and the adjoining Shackleton Gardens in Clonsilla offer one of Fingal’s more unusual green-space experiences. The restored garden is associated with the Shackleton family and is known for its historically important plant collection.
Fingal County Council acquired the Shackleton Gardens in 2017 and carried out major restoration works, including rebuilding walls, improving paths and restoring garden structures. The gardens were subsequently opened to the public as a local amenity and visitor attraction.
The site is especially interesting for visitors who enjoy horticulture, as the historic collection contains unusual and noteworthy plants.
The wider Beech Park setting adds open green space to the more enclosed garden experience. Together they make a good choice for a relaxed visit rather than a strenuous outdoor activity.
