San Juan Island National Historical Park

San Juan Island National Historical Park is located in Friday Harbor, Washington. The park is known for its saltwater shores, quiet woodlands, orca whales, and one of the last remaining native prairies in the Puget Sound/Northern Straits region. In 1859, the island was the site of a dispute between the United States and Great Britain that nearly led to war. The crisis began with the death of a pig.
