Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site

Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site is a twelve-acre historic site on the banks of the Saugus River. It preserves the location where European iron makers brought their skills to the Massachusetts colony in the 1600s. The site includes working waterwheels, forges, mills, a historic 17th-century home, and a river basin. It is operated by the National Park Service.
