Palmerston Park is a historic neighbourhood park in Dartry, close to Rathmines. It is known for mature landscaping, floral displays and its late-Victorian character.
The area formed part of the former Rathmines Castle demesne before nineteenth-century residential development transformed the district. The park is considered one of Dublin’s stronger examples of late-Victorian urban design and came under public management in the early twentieth century.
Palmerston Park works best for an unhurried walk. Its paths, planting and residential setting create a quieter atmosphere than many larger recreation parks. Families can also make use of the playground.
For current opening times and facilities, see the official Dublin City Council page for Palmerston Park.
