Padre Island National Seashore

Padre Island National Seashore protects sixty-six miles of wild coastline along the Gulf of America. The barrier island includes one of the last intact coastal prairie habitats in the United States. The hypersaline Laguna Madre contains tidal mud flats that teem with life. Its shores have been traveled by Native Americans, Spanish explorers, and cattle ranchers.
