Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park

Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park was a place of refuge for people who broke sacred laws known as kapu. The puʻuhonua also protected defeated warriors and civilians during times of battle. No physical harm could come to those who reached its boundaries. The park is open from 8:15 AM until sunset, with entrance fees varying by vehicle or visitor type.
