    About the Park

    White Sands National Park is located in Alamogordo, New Mexico. It preserves a major portion of the world's largest gypsum dunefield. Great wave-like dunes of gypsum sand cover a large area of the Tularosa Basin. The park also protects the plants and animals that live in this environment.
