About the Park
Wright Brothers National Memorial commemorates Wilbur and Orville Wright's first successful airplane flights on December 17, 1903. The Wright brothers conducted four years of scientific experimentation in North Carolina before achieving the flights. Their work relied on teamwork and the application of the scientific process. The site is operated by the National Park Service.
